Why use the dry ice blast method to clean?
When your home or property has been damaged by fire or water dry ice blast cleaning may be used instead of other methods, such as sand, water or chemical. Dry ice blast is superior to other cleaning methods because the dry ice is soft enough not to pit or damage the underlying surface. The dry ice quickly sublimes into the air and only the removed material must be cleaned up.

Dry ice blasting is similar to sand blasting, plastic bead blasting or soda blasting where a medium is accelerated in a pressurized air stream to impact a surface to be cleaned or prepared. But instead of using hard abrasive media to grind on a surface (and damage it), dry ice blasting uses soft dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, and creates mini-explosions on the surface to lift the undesirable item off the underlying substrate.
Benefits of IceBlasters USA©
- Faster and More Thorough Cleaning – Dry ice blast cleans better and reduces hours when compared to scrubbing with abrasive pads or wire brushes.
- Elimination of Equipment Damage – Dry ice is non-abrasive to surfaces and does not change a surface’s structure. It lifts contaminants away. In addition equipment can be cleaned in place, eliminating potential damage from moving it to a separate cleaning area.
- Reduction or Elimination of Solvents – Rather than using solvents, dry ice blasting uses harmless CO2 pellets. This can be critical for companies that need to comply with environmental regulations or improve worker safety.
- Reductions in Waste Disposal – Dry ice blast cleaning because the CO2 pellet vaporizes upon contact, the only waste created is the contaminant itself. This alone can result in significant waste reduction.
